The beautiful eighteenth century farmstead has been tastefully and sympathetically converted into luxurious holiday accommodation, comprising four quality cottages. The two largest cottages, the Barn (ETB grade 5) and the Granary (ETB grade 5) are luxuriously spacious cottages with every modern convenience, each sleeping six people. The Stable cottages (ETB grade 4) can accommodate four people and the Dairy (ETB grade 4) can sleep two people. These two quality cottages can be combined into one - which is very popular with visitors from more than one family or generation, allowing accessibility with privacy. Extra Z-beds and cots are available for young children in all holiday accommodation. Each cottage is equipped to a very high standard, including wool carpets,quarry tiles,craftsman made wooden furniture, wood burning stoves, fully inclusive gas central heating, towels and linen, televisions/videos/DVDs and freeview, radio/CD players and washing machines. The three largest cottages also have dishwashers.
For those wanting a shorter visit to Lewes or a quiet romantic break we have the Old Wash House (ETB grade 4) for bed and breakfast. The Old Wash House is a self-contained cottage and delicious food is privided for guests to use at their leisure.
All the barns are unique. Original features such as exposed oak beams and washing coppers have been preserved and great care has been taken to provide quality comfort and style, to make your holiday a pleasant experience.
Equipment and Furnishings
Quality wool carpets, floor tiles, curtains and handmade furniture have been
combined to provide luxurious living space which compliments the historic and
rustic features of the barns.
All bedrooms can be double or twin on request by virtue of zip and link divans.
Baby equipment comprising a cot, baby seat and fireguard are available on request.
All the houses have full gas central heating and attractive wood burning stoves.
Hot water can be had at the touch of a button.
Each house is fully equipped with crockery, cutlery, cooking utensils and cleaning
equipment. Televisions with videos and radios with C.D. players, microwaves,
toasters and range gas cookers are among the many facilities provided. We aim
to make your stay a very happy one.
A starter hamper of bread, milk, tea, coffee, butter, sugar and marmalade and any thing else you may require may be ordered in advance to ease your arrival.
Mill Laine Stables
Near to the holiday houses are a new range of stables with a yard, this is where our farm horses and pony are stabled. Various options of livery are available for the duration of your visit, should you wish to bring your own horses and ponies. The farm can supply hay, straw, shavings and feed on request. The riding from our farm is outstanding, with direct access onto the downs and the Southdown Way. We are within an easy distance of Hickstead and Golden Cross. There is ample parking for horseboxes. (All animals must be accompanied with a valid vaccination certificate and will be wormed on arrival to ensure the pasture remains worm-free.)
At the end of the courtyard there is a lockable shed for
visitors use.
The houses form a u-shape with a flint wall making up the fourth side,
this is where the horses were tended and the sheep were shorn in summer.
It is now a lawn and the old water trough has a thriving population of
goldfish! (With grill for child safety.)
Part of the old dairy has been converted into a laundry, with a washer/drying machine, iron and ironing board, a telephone, a freezer with home made and grown produce, including meats, pies, cakes and other produce including our eggs.
To the rear is a barbeque area.
The barns have their own drive and car park with plenty of turning space.
